The BIM Project Coordinator (BIM PC) plays a vital role in ensuring effective coordination, documentation, and communication within the Building Information Modeling (BIM) team and across project stakeholders. This role supports the BIM Manager and design team by maintaining detailed project records, facilitating information flow, and ensuring all updates, tasks, and project communications are logged and acted upon efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meeting Support & Documentation
- Attend internal and external BIM coordination meetings alongside the BIM Manager.
- Record detailed meeting minutes, summarizing key discussions, decisions, and action points.
- Identify, draft, and log action items discussed during meetings.
- Track all action items using a standardized spreadsheet or project management tool, ensuring timely follow-up.
- RFI (Request for Information) Management
- Draft clear, concise RFIs based on coordination issues or missing information.
- Submit RFIs to the project team via the appropriate channels (Procore or project email).
- Maintain and update an RFI tracking spreadsheet to monitor responses and status.
- Procore Administration
- Post documents, RFIs, meeting minutes, and coordination updates to the project’s Procore platform.
- Perform daily checks in Procore for new RFIs, submittals, changes, or communications.
- Notify BIM team members of relevant updates from Procore, including changes in coordination, resolved RFIs, or updated action logs.
- Communication & Coordination
- Serve as a communication bridge between the BIM Manager and various BIM designers and drafters.
- Ensure all updates are relayed to team members in a timely, organized manner.
- Digital Meeting Archiving
- Use screen recording software to record coordination meetings, ensuring an accurate digital record is available for review.
- Archive and catalog video recordings by date and topic for team reference.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in construction coordination, BIM support, or project administration.
- Familiarity with BIM processes and terminology (Sheetmetal, Piping, Plumbing models).
- Proficiency in Procore and Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet software).
- Strong communication and writing skills for drafting RFIs, meeting minutes, and summaries.
- Comfortable using screen recording tools (e.g., OBS, Zoom, Microsoft Teams Recorder).
- Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset in tracking tasks and resolving issues.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience working with MEP coordination teams.
- Familiarity with Autodesk products including:
- AutoCAD
- AutoCAD MEP / Fabrication
- Revit
- Navisworks
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for document review and markup.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of VDC workflows and modeling principles
