Job summary

Flint is seeking a skilled BIM modeler in its Self-Perform department to deliver 3D mechanical piping and plumbing models and fabrication-level shop drawings.

You will translate contract drawings into constructible, clash-free layouts, coordinate with modeling and leads, and support schedules and field crews. This non-exempt role requires union membership with UA Local 447 or willingness to join upon hire; relevant drafts and technical certificates preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drafting or Trade Journeyman Certification.
• Experience in commercial plumbing and mechanical construction is strongly preferred.
• Active signatory membership with UA Local 447 or willingness to join upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Create, detail, and maintain 3D models for mechanical piping and plumbing systems in accordance with company standards and project specifications.
• Process, clean up, and manipulate background drawings and model files from external design teams.
• Identify conflicts between plan sets across multiple disciplines to find clashes and prevent delays.
• Generate spool sheets, field installation drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) to support shop prefabrication and field crews.
• Collaborate directly with Plumbing and Pipefitting Field Leads to verify constructability and installation preferences.
• Manage and prioritize workload across multiple project timelines independently.
• Effectively communicate with department leads to provide schedule updates and resolve conflicts within the model.
• Participate in trade coordination meetings to resolve spatial conflicts with electrical, HVAC, and structural elements.

Job description

This position will sit within our Self-Perform department and is responsible for delivering high-quality 3D BIM models and fabrication-level shop drawings for mechanical systems, specifically plumbing and mechanical piping. Working closely with Flint’s Modeling team and Plumbing/Mechanical leads, you will translate contract design drawings into constructible, clash-free installation layouts to support project schedules and field efficiency.

• Identify conflicts between plan sets across multiple disciplines to find clashes and prevent delays.
• Generate spool sheets, field installation drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) to support shop prefabrication and field crews.
• Collaborate directly with Plumbing and Pipefitting Field Leads to verify constructability, and installation preferences.

Job Requirements, Qualifications, Characteristics:

• Experience in commercial plumbing and mechanical construction is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCad, Revizto(or similar 3D detailing software).
• Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drafting or Trade Journeyman Certification or equivalent experience.
• This is a non-exempt position, Active signatory membership with UA Local 447 or the wiliness to join upon hire is required.
