Job description

About xLight

xLightis building the world’s most powerful laser to revolutionize semiconductor lithography, metrology, and for other critical applications. Our approach harnesses the power of free-electron lasers, building on accelerator technology in use globally at scientific user facilities. Extending this technology, we are developing industrial-grade light sources, engineered for continuous operation, to meet the sophisticated demands of next-generation patterning, metrology, and inspection applications. Join us in this new revolution.

What We Need — and Why It Matters

We are seeking a BIM Manager to own the facility BIM model for a first-of-a-kind accelerator-based light source facility. This is a hands-on technical role, not a supervisory position. The ideal candidate is a true BIM expert who not only manages the BIM environment but also develops models, performs clash detection, produces construction drawings, and directly reviews and modifies A&E deliverables.

You will serve as the single point of accountability for the facility Revit model, ensuring it remains accurate, coordinated, and aligned with project requirements throughout the design and construction lifecycle. Working closely with the facility infrastructure lead, engineering design team, A&E partners, and construction contractors, you will develop and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP (HVAC, piping, plumbing, and electrical) models, integrate engineering inputs, resolve clashes, and produce high-quality deliverables for both internal decision-making and external coordination.

In addition, you will manage the owner’s BIM environment within the A&E firm’s Common Data Environment (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud), overseeing model access, version control, publishing, and transmittals across the A&E firm, construction contractor, and internal engineering teams (Siemens Teamcenter). You will also support new site layouts, create visualizations and renderings, and ensure BIM standards are consistently maintained.

Success in this role requires exceptional communication and collaboration. You will regularly coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, architects, contractors, and project leadership, translating complex BIM models into clear, actionable information for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a proactive role—you are expected to identify issues early, drive them to resolution, and make the necessary model updates yourself rather than simply coordinating others.

What You’ll Do
Primary Responsibilities
  • Own, maintain, and version-control the facility Revit model throughout all project phases, developing architectural, structural, and MEP (HVAC, piping, plumbing, electrical) models that accurately capture design intent.
  • Review, validate, and modify A&E-produced Revit models to ensure completeness, accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements; proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Integrate equipment models (STEP, IFC, and other neutral formats) into the facility model, verifying layouts, clearances, access, and compatibility across metric and imperial units.
  • Perform and manage clash detection using Revit and Navisworks, maintain the clash log, coordinate with discipline leads, and drive issue resolution to closure.
  • Produce construction drawing packages, including plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules, and 3D views, in accordance with AIA standards and ISO 19650 BIM requirements.
  • Create custom Revit families for project-specific equipment and components.
  • Develop high-quality renderings and visualizations using Omniverse or Blender (preferred).
BIM Management & Documentation
  • Maintain BIM standards, model quality, and consistency across all deliverables.
  • Identify design gaps, spatial conflicts, and specification deficiencies within A&E submittals.
  • Support interoperability between Revit, STEP/IFC, and Siemens NX/Teamcenter environments.
  • Manage Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), including folder structures, permissions, publishing, transmittals, and coordination workflows.
  • Administer Bluebeam sessions for design reviews, RFIs, submittals, and document coordination.
  • Coordinate document control between the owner, A&E partners, contractors, and engineering teams to ensure accurate file management and distribution.
Project Coordination
  • Represent BIM in design review meetings, proactively preparing model issues and recommendations.
  • Coordinate model integration and facility-equipment interfaces across architectural, structural, MEP, engineering, and construction teams.
  • Plan, lead, and document Navisworks coordination meetings, tracking all action items through resolution.
  • Maintain and distribute updated models and drawing packages throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support BIM-related RFI and submittal reviews.
  • Own the LOD 500 as-built model process through project closeout by tracking contractor deliverables, validating quality and accuracy, incorporating approved as-built information into the Revit model, and signing off on the final facility model.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Drafting/Design Technology, or a related field.
  • 10–15+ years of experience as a BIM Designer or BIM Manager supporting complex facility projects.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines (HVAC, piping, plumbing, and electrical), with the ability to model, edit, and coordinate independently.
  • Strong experience with Navisworks for model federation, clash detection, coordination, and issue tracking.
  • Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360, including project workflows, document management, and common data environments (CDE).
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for drawing markups, RFIs, and submittal reviews.
  • Familiarity with STEP, IFC, and other neutral CAD formats, including coordination between BIM and mechanical CAD platforms (e.g., NX/Teamcenter).
  • Comfortable working in both imperial and metric environments, integrating equipment models, validating clearances, and producing coordinated drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AIA drawing standards, ISO 19650 BIM delivery requirements, and Level of Development (LOD 300–500) throughout design, construction, and project closeout. Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 is a plus.
  • Experience supporting research laboratories, advanced manufacturing, industrial facilities, semiconductor, accelerator, or other highly technical infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Omniverse, Blender, or other visualization tools is a plus.
  • Experience with Navisworks TimeLiner or 4D construction sequencing is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and proactively identify issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across A&E firms, engineering teams, contractors, and executive stakeholders, and clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
