Job summary

Just Construction Recruitment’s client, a leading commercial construction company in VA/Carolinas, seeks a VDC Engineer to drive BIM initiatives across projects. You will report to the VDC Manager and support design-build, coordination, and virtual construction efforts.

Responsibilities include BIM execution planning, coordination meetings, clash detection with Navisworks, and BIM content creation in Revit. Occasional travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, or 3+ years of VDC/BIM experience.

• Document BIM‑related project events and lessons learned for process improvement.
• Support the development of the company’s VDC portfolio and marketing materials.
• Provide BIM/VDC training and support to project staff.
• Work closely with project teams throughout both preconstruction and construction phases.
• Travel to project sites as required.

The company has established itself as a leader in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), utilizing BIM technology to solve complex design and construction challenges, improve coordination, and increase the efficiency of the building process.

About the Role

The VDC Engineer will be part of the company's Virtual Construction Department and will report directly to the VDC Manager, providing support across multiple projects and helping drive the company’s VDC/BIM initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• 3+ years of experience with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Civil 3D
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with VDC/BIM software such as Lumion, 3ds Max, Enscape, Synchro, and Bluebeam
• Experience with project scheduling and scheduling software
• Strong understanding of construction processes and project coordination
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Ability to identify and resolve issues with a strong sense of urgency
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required
