Job summary

Just Construction Recruitment is seeking a VDC Engineer for a leading Virginia-based commercial construction company. The role reports to the VDC Manager and supports multiple projects across Virginia and the Carolinas, focusing on BIM/VDC initiatives and execution planning.

Responsibilities include developing BIM Execution Plans, leading coordination meetings, performing clash detections with Navisworks, reviewing drawings and RFIs, and training project staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant VDC/BIM experience.
• Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection.

• Identify, track, and assign coordination issues to responsible parties.

• Document BIM-related project events and lessons learned.
• Support the development of the company’s VDC portfolio and marketing materials.
• Provide BIM/VDC training and support to project staff.
• Work closely with project teams through preconstruction and construction phases.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Our client is a leading commercial construction company operating across Virginia and the Carolinas, with a strong reputation for construction management, design-build, virtual construction, green building, and complex project delivery. The company has established itself as a leader in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), utilizing BIM technology to solve complex design and construction challenges, improve coordination, and increase the efficiency of the building process.

About the Role

The VDC Engineer will be part of the company’s Virtual Construction Department and will report directly to the VDC Manager, providing support across multiple projects and helping drive the company’s VDC/BIM initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or 3+ years of relevant VDC/BIM experience

Required Skills

• 3+ years of experience with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Civil 3D
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with VDC/BIM software such as Lumion, 3ds Max, Enscape, Synchro, and Bluebeam
• Experience with project scheduling and scheduling software
• Strong understanding of construction processes and project coordination
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Ability to identify and resolve issues with a strong sense of urgency
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required
