Job description

A well-established, privately held, multi-discipline engineering and design consulting firm is seeking a Design Technology Coordinator to support its growing industrial project portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a CAD/BIM professional with strong AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D experience who enjoys supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams, improving design workflows, and helping deliver high-quality 3D project models and documentation.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with 3D piping/modeling environments, CAD standards, project file management, and coordination of digital engineering deliverables. This individual will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, designers, and the technology team to help ensure models, drawings, data, and collaboration environments remain organized, accurate, and delivery-ready throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project setup, digital file organization, collaboration environments, and CAD/BIM workflows in accordance with established company and client standards.
  • Develop and maintain 3D piping specifications, modeling standards, and project deliverables using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Execute 3D modeling and prepare design documentation, including isometrics, orthographic drawings, bills of material, and related project deliverables.
  • Coordinate CAD/BIM project environments, including templates, folder structures, model organization, project settings, and digital deliverable requirements.
  • Assist engineering and design teams with model coordination, clash detection, issue resolution, and general technical support.
  • Maintain and update CAD, Revit, and Plant 3D libraries, catalogs, specifications, and design content in alignment with company standards.
  • Support ongoing model maintenance, file coordination, troubleshooting, and resolution of CAD/BIM user issues.
  • Assist with drawing package preparation, sheet set validation, model organization, and milestone deliverable readiness.
  • Integrate laser scanning, reality-capture data, and point clouds into engineering design models and project workflows.
  • Support administration and setup of Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Forma, or comparable project collaboration platforms.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve modeling, coordination, data integrity, and design-documentation challenges.
  • Document modeling standards, workflows, lessons learned, and best practices to support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • 3–7 years of experience in a CAD, BIM, VDC, design technology, piping design, or related technical coordination role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Experience producing or supporting 3D piping models, isometrics, orthographic drawings, bills of material, and related engineering documentation.
  • Strong understanding of CAD standards, drawing/model organization, file management, and digital design deliverable coordination.
  • Experience supporting engineering or design teams within an industrial, manufacturing, process, power, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with project collaboration tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Forma, or comparable platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, designers, project managers, and technical stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong organizational, troubleshooting, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to pass a background screening and drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Revit, Autodesk ReCap, CloudWorx, MicroStation, or similar CAD/BIM platforms.
  • Experience working with point clouds, laser scans, reality-capture datasets, and scan-to-model workflows.
  • Familiarity with clash detection, model review, design coordination, and multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Exposure to process design projects involving piping, equipment layouts, industrial facilities, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience managing CAD libraries, content catalogs, Plant 3D specifications, and project templates.
Why Consider This Opportunity
  • Join a stable, growing engineering and design organization supporting complex industrial and manufacturing clients.
  • Work on technically challenging projects from early concept development through detailed design, construction support, and startup.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineering, process, mechanical, electrical, structural, and design professionals.
  • Receive competitive compensation along with health benefits, paid time off, holidays, flexible scheduling, paid overtime, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(k) matching, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Build long-term expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D, industrial design technology, 3D modeling standards, and engineering project coordination.
