Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications BIM Designer to support the development of coordinated 3D building information models and 2D construction documentation for complex telecommunications and building systems projects.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer with extensive Revit experience, strong Navisworks skills, and a background in telecommunications design and construction. You will work alongside telecom discipline leads, BIM coordinators, architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams to translate design intent into accurate, coordinated, construction-ready deliverables.
The position is fully remote. Candidates located near Tempe, Arizona; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Portland, Oregon, are preferred, but candidates based elsewhere may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, develop, maintain, and manage Revit BIM models in coordination with other discipline BIM leads and design team members.
- Create and manage coordinated 3D models across multiple disciplines, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, instrumentation, and related systems.
- Produce accurate 2D construction drawings and telecommunications design documentation.
- Use Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and related design tools to develop coordinated models and construction-ready deliverables.
- Support model coordination activities, identify potential clashes, and help resolve coordination issues across disciplines.
- Translate design markups, engineering direction, and design intent into detailed, constructible models and drawings.
- Follow established client design standards, modeling requirements, codes, specifications, and applicable industry standards.
- Coordinate with telecom discipline leads, engineers, architects, and other designers to maintain model accuracy and consistency.
- Use Bluebeam or similar software to review, annotate, and incorporate drawing markups.
- Estimate design and modeling hours based on provided markups, project requirements, and verbal direction.
- Maintain a high level of quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the design documentation process.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 8 years of Revit BIM design experience.
- Proficiency with Navisworks.
- At least 4 years of relevant telecommunications systems design and construction experience.
- Understanding of applicable codes, industry standards, design specifications, and construction documentation.
- Understanding of wiring and cabling connections, circuits, and links between devices and equipment.
- Experience working within client-specific design and BIM modeling standards.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or comparable markup and drawing review software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to estimate modeling and design effort from markups, project requirements, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to project-specific processes and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 6 years of Revit MEP design experience.
- Knowledge and practical application of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards.
- Experience designing for semiconductor manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, or other complex facility environments.
- Experience with paging, intercom, and audiovisual systems.
- Experience with life safety and security systems, including fire alarm, access control, and CCTV.
- Knowledge of control systems, network components, and network topology.
- Initial 5-month contract with the possibility of extension.
- Fully remote work arrangement.
- Preference for candidates near Tempe, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; or Portland, OR, though other locations are eligible for consideration.
