Job summary

Comfy is seeking a skilled backend engineer to own billing, metering, and payments. You will design and maintain the system that meters usage across GPUs and model APIs, manage credits and subscriptions, and ensure secure, reliable execution of billing across distributed services.

Qualifications

• Built and operated billing or payments systems in production with ownership of usage metering, credits, or pricing.
• Integrated Stripe directly handling subscriptions, invoices, webhooks, and failed payments beyond the happy path.
• Experience reasoning about money across distributed systems: idempotency, reconciliation, and recovery after partial failure.

Responsibilities

• Capture usage reliably for metering GPU compute and partner models.
• Build metering and pricing for credits, subscriptions, and plan changes.
• Handle delayed events, retries, and ensure each billable event is recorded once.
• Own the payment lifecycle: checkout, subscriptions, top-ups, prorations, refunds, failed payments.
• Reconcile charges, payments, credits with audits and safe recovery when discrepancies arise.
• Create reusable pricing/entitlement systems for creators, teams, and enterprise customers.
• Implement spend controls and fraud detection with finance and support teams.
• Collaborate with product and frontend engineers to improve billing experiences.
