Job summary

Belmont Behavioral Health System is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our Business Office remotely. You will ensure accurate and timely billing of healthcare claims, resolve claim issues, and support reimbursement processes across payer sources.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• 5 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified CPT coder is a plus.
• Medicare and Medicaid experience is a plus.
• Recent experience as Medicaid/Medicare or Third Party Biller, Billing Coordinator or Collection Specialist preferred.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, Clearinghouse, 10-key and math skills required; HIPAA knowledge required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a busy office setting.

Responsibilities

• Completes all third party electronic and manual billing timely and accurately per rules and regulations.
• Completes payer-specific edits identified through the billing system.
• Resolves issues with incomplete claims and follows up on non-transmitted claims.
• Submits adjustment claims to Medicare/Medicaid via online systems.
• Attaches documents when billing manual claims and/or other medical records.
• Mails all manual claims to payers daily.
• Works daily reports and ensures proper documentation in patient accounting notes.
• Maintains daily productivity records for claims billed.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our Business Office team. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing of healthcare claims, resolving claim issues, and supporting reimbursement processes across a variety of payer sources. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in medical billing, Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Completes all third party electronic and manual billing timely and accurately in accordance with appropriate rules and regulations.
• Completes all payer specific edits identified through the billing system.
• Resolves issues associated with incomplete claims including follow up of non-transmitted claims.
• Submit adjustment claims to Medicare/Medicaid through use of online systems.
• Attaches appropriate documents when billing manual claims and or other medical records.
• Mails all manual claims to individual payers daily.
• Works all daily reports as assigned.
• Records daily productivity of claims billed and assures proper documentation in the notes of the patient accounting systems.
• Completes all monthly required in-services and educational training as required.
• Experience with Behavioral Health, including CBH, CCBH preferred
• Experience with SSI and / or Availity Pro preferred
• Other duties as assigned

• Computer savvy: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Work, Clearinghouse application and solid 10-key and mathematical skills is required. Knowledgeable in medical practices and procedures as it relates to the laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to HIPAA is required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a busy office setting is required.
