Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 6-8 years of management/leadership experience; 3-5 years of medical terminology/billing experience required.
  • Experience in HME billing, processes, and workflow improvement preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and staff.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct monthly financial reporting.
  • Supervise and evaluate front-end billing staff.
  • Recruit, hire and train personnel.
  • Set work schedules and assignments based on workload and resources.
  • Maintain computerized records and generate reports.
  • Meet with staff to review performance and set goals.
  • Ensure timely month-end close and accurate AR metrics.
  • Act as escalation resource for Front End and Back End departments.

Position Summary:The Billing Operations Manager provides overall leadership and vision to the assigned direct reports. This role provides strategic direction, process improvement and workflow direction, and team/ leadership development for the billing office. The Billing Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the billing department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of all invoices, claims, and payments. This role is responsible for managing the billing staff, coordinating with other departments to resolve billing discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and insurance requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with a deep understanding of billing systems and processes. The Billing Operations Manager plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization and ensuring timely and accurate revenue collection.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Conduct and administer monthly financial reporting.Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of front-end billing office departmental staffDirect or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel.Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.Develop and maintain computerized record management systems to store and process data such as personnel activities and information, and to produce reports.Meet with assigned staff on a routine basis to evaluate work performance and provide feedback and establish goals and expectations in team and individual settingEnsure departments complete work timely for month-end closeMaintain thorough understanding of front-End departments, workflow, and processes as well as serve as a resource for escalations from Front End departments.Familiar with NRS payers and Back End departments, serve as a backup resource for escalations from Back End departments.Work individually and in a team to meet individual and departmental goalsFamiliar with different insurance contracts/payers we handle and keep abreast of any changes with these contractsAttend annual training sessions and/or competency testsShare accountability in completion of tasks that drive NRS metrics, such as improvement in 3rd Party Billing %, DSO, and Aging AR.Miscellaneous duties and projects as needed based upon needs of the Billing Office department(s) and/or Senior Leadership or the organization as a whole.Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or general education degree required, bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or related degree preferred.Experience: 6-8 years of management/leadership experience and 3-5 years of medical terminology/billing experience required; previous experience in HME billing, process and workflow improvement, and team/leadership development is strongly preferred.Language Skills – Ability to speak and communicate well with clients and employees.Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.Time Management – Ability to work independently, organize and manage multiple priorities with little supervisionSafety/Security – Actively promotes and personally observes all safety and security procedures, and uses all equipment and materials properlyPhysical Demands:Sitting – Constant (up to 8 hours per day)Typing – Constant (up to 8 hours per day)Talking/Hearing/Seeing – Constant (up to 8 hours per day)Use of both hands and fingers – to feel, touch and typeEquipment Used:Computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, headset, other miscellaneous office supplies.Work Environment:Indoors - temperature-controlled officeDISCLAIMER:This description is intended to describe the essential job functions and the essential requirements for the performance of this job.
