Job summary

Tenet Physician Resources is seeking a Billing Specialist to assist with daily coordination and supervision of billing and collections for the medical practice. You will enter charges, file claims, process ERAs, payments and adjustments, and balance daily activity while supporting front office audits.

The role involves ensuring timely batch processing, auditing patient financial data, reviewing delinquent balances, and providing guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing as stated in the job description.
• Knowledge of accounts receivable collection processes.
• Familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT coding and electronic health record systems.
• Understanding of HIPAA and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Enter charges in a timely manner and file claims; run audit trails daily.
• Process ERAs, payments and adjustments; balance daily activity.
• Prepare and send batch cover sheets to Director and accounting.
• Ensure front office collects copays and balances due; audit patient data up to 2 days before visit.
• Review/work delinquent insurance and patient balances; handle escalated issues.

Assists with the coordination and supervision of daily activities of a group of Billing Specialist as well as support billing and collections functions of the medical practice. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources. Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement. Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. Provides direction and guidance to less experienced team members. Recognizes and recommends areas needing improvement. Assist in scheduling and coordinating team activities. Handles escalated and unresolved issues from less experienced representatives. Education

High school diploma/GED required with completion billing or coding program preferred.
