Job summary

Team Focus Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Policy Underwriting & Risk Assessment professional for a fully remote role. Typical hours are 8-5pm or 9-6pm Eastern Time, with compensation of $25.00 per hour.

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, plus 3–5 years in Personal Lines underwriting and a 2-20 or 4-40 license is preferred. You will review applications, analyze endorsements, and determine coverage in line with underwriting rules, while maintaining strong agent relationships and ensuring

• Customer service and conflict-resolution skills, including handling agent or client inquiries professionally.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
• Licensing such as 2-20 or 4-40 preferred.

Responsibilities

Summary

Policy Underwriting & Risk Assessment

• Review and process applications for all personal lines coverage to determine eligibility for company programs.

• Research complex underwriting issues and provide solutions for eligibility, coverage, and compliance concerns.

Agent & Client Support

• Serve as a subject matter expert for agents by providing guidance on policy forms, coverage options, and application submission.
• Receive and handle agent calls regarding bind requests, endorsement changes, cancellations, reinstatements, inspections, missing information, and quote acceptability.
• Maintain strong agent relationships through proactive communication and timely resolution of inquiries.

Follow-Up & Workflow Management

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of tasks to support departmental and client needs.
• Maintain organized workflow to optimize productivity and compliance with underwriting standards.

Continuous Learning & Compliance

• Stay current on underwriting rules, policy forms, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in training sessions and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
• Ensure compliance with carrier and company guidelines in all underwriting decisions.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance underwriting quality and efficiency.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university preferred.

Work Experience

• Three (3) to five (5) years of underwriting experience in Personal Lines including homeowners and other lines; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• You must have general knowledge of insurance statutes, regulations and policies.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of Property/Casualty insurance underwriting principles and personal lines policy elements.
• Ability to analyze complex applications and make informed risk decisions.

• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to maintain productivity without direct supervision
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) for documentation, reporting, and team collaboration
• An active 2-20 or 4-40 license, or industry designation such as CPCU or CIC, is preferred.

Hours: 8-5pm or 9-6pm Eastern Time Zone

Compensation: $25.00 per hour
