Job summary

Suvida Healthcare in Tucson, AZ seeks a Transportation Driver to operate a wheelchair van, transport non-emergent patients to and from Suvida Healthcare Centers, and perform routine vehicle maintenance.

You will assist disabled passengers, secure wheelchairs, document trips, and communicate with clinic staff while delivering compassionate, patient-focused service in a culturally aware environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid state driver’s license.
• Minimum age 25 and a clean driving record.
• Healthcare transportation and customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to operate wheelchair securing devices and mobility equipment.

Responsibilities

• Drives company wheelchair van to transport non-emergent patients to and from Suvida Healthcare Centers.
• Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicle and secures wheelchairs.
• Keeps vehicle clean, fueled, and maintained; reports deficiencies.
• Maintains trip records, mileage, and any incidents; communicates with clinic staff.

What You’ll Do

Position Summary

The Transportation Driver will be an integral part of the Suvida Healthcare patient experience. This position will be responsible for driving a wheelchair van to transport non-emergent patients to and from Suvida Healthcare Centers. This position will also be responsible for the care of vehicles and ensuring maintenance is completed on schedule. The Transportation Driver will also transport patients during day trips by using a handicap accessible vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the highest level of customer service possible
• Displays respect and concern for all patients
• Attends all clinic huddles and clinic monthly meetings
• Drives company vehicles to and from individual patient care facilities/home per assigned schedule.
• Assists disabled passengers into and out of vehicle.
• Secures passengers' wheelchairs with restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Communicates with clinic staff or Center Director to report disruption of service.
• Responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and fueling of assigned vehicle, as well as documenting, reporting, and/or correcting any deficiencies found during the inspection.
• Ensures vehicles are taken for maintenance/inspections as per maintenance/inspection schedule
• Keeps records of trips, mileage, and accidents
• Alerts emergency medical services and clinic staff of any emergency patient may have during trip
• Other Duties as assignedby Center Director

What You’ll Bring

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilitie s

• Current and valid state issued driver’s license in good standing
• Applicant must have a minimum age of 25
• Clean Driving Record (MVP) in past 7 years
• Clean Criminal Background
• 2+ years progressive work experience in the healthcare transportation
• 2+ years of customer service
• Experience with operating wheelchair securing devices
• 5+ years of experience with operating motor vehicle
• Experience with operating wheelchairs, both motorized and non-motorized
• Experience in Value-based care operations preferred
• Considerable knowledge of geography of the business area and the location of roads and streets preferred
• Comfortable working independently

Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Active ACLS or BLS certification (or willing to obtain on within 7 days of start)
