The Appoquinimink School District offers a Spanish Immersion program and a Chinese Immersion program kindergarten through 8th grade. Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Substitute provides appropriate learning experiences for students, ensures an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals, supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings, and monitors proper use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
Substitutes are Casual Seasonal Employees and are not eligible for Benefits.
May require frequent bending, walking, running, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds. Paraprofessional positions may also require moving wheelchairs, assisting with toileting, feeding, and other daily living activities, assisting with self‑care plans such as toileting, feeding, personal hygiene, dressing, and assisting students in walking or eating, kneeling and working on floor, walking for long periods, and handling physically aggressive behaviors.
The work is generally performed in a school environment and may require moving around the school and classroom.
