Namaste Charter School is seeking a paraprofessional to support students with diverse needs. The role involves implementing services outlined in IEPs, assisting teachers, and supporting school activities in a collaborative classroom environment.

The paraprofessional will help with personal care, behavior support, and data collection while maintaining confidentiality and fostering inclusive communication with families and students.

Qualifications

• Supports implementing services and interventions under teacher guidance.
• Creates and provides instructional materials to support curricular modifications.
• Collaborates with team and communicates student needs and progress.
• Demonstrates understanding of Namaste Charter School’s policies and confidentiality.
• Assists with personal care needs as per the student’s IEP.
• Supports student behavior with data collection and de-escalation techniques.
• Documents service delivery using paraprofessional logs and logs in an online database.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Facilitates communication with linguistically and culturally diverse parents/guardians.

Description

The paraprofessional is knowledgeable of child development, disabilities, and different learning styles. They are able and willing to implement services outlined in the student’s IEP, as well as support all students in the learning environment. The paraprofessional is flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions, exercise good judgment in taking initiative to modify activities to meet the needs of all students.

Requirements

Key Competencies: Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Implement services, supports and interventions directly to students with the guidance and supervision from a teacher, such as note-taking, movement breaks, technology use, small group or one one one skills practice, previewing or reviewing skills, and field trip supervision
• Assist in making or providing materials for an individual, group, or class to help the teacher create curricular modifications for all
• Collaborate and communicate with team members regarding students’ needs and progress
• Demonstrate knowledge of Namaste Charter School’s mission, vision, policies and procedures, operating instructions, and confidentiality standards
• Assist with the personal care needs (e.g., toileting, dressing) as identified in the student’s IEP
• Support student with behavior; e.g. implementing behavior plan, collecting data, and using de-escalation techniques
• Document service delivery using paraprofessional logs and service capture logs in online database
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
• Facilitate communication with linguistically and culturally diverse parents/guardians and students; making cross linguistic connections as appropriate in and out the classroom

Qualifications

Spanish Fluency strongly preferred

Paraprofessional License

Salary and benefits determined in accordance with collective bargaining agreement, based on relevant experience
