Job summary

Toolkit Tutors seeks a talented Algebra I tutor to provide in-person support at a Queens, NYCDOE school during school hours. The role focuses on building foundational skills, problem-solving, and exam prep through structured instruction.

You will work about 5 hours per day, 2 days a week, as a W2 employee paid weekly at $32–$35 per hour (roughly $37–$40/hr on 1099 after taxes and benefits). Curriculum and materials are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, completed (or near completion) with strong academic performance.
  • At least one year of experience teaching or tutoring in a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Algebra I.
  • Willingness to commute to the Queens school; DOE fingerprint clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structured, engaging Algebra I instruction to small groups using Toolkit Tutors or school-provided curriculum.
  • Review baseline data to tailor instruction to individual student needs.
  • Help students deploy effective study skills, including organization, problem-solving strategies, and review techniques.
  • Take daily attendance and tutoring notes using a personal mobile device.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and Toolkit Tutors leadership.

Job description

We are seeking a talentedAlgebra Itutor to provide in-person support to students at a Queens NYCDOE school. This role focuses on helping students build strong foundational skills, improve problem-solving, and prepare for exams through structured, skill-based instruction.

Tutors will work approximately5hours per day, over2 days each week, on-site at the school during school hours. This is aW2 position that pays between $32 and $35 per hour, based on applicant experience (roughly equivalent to $37 - $40 per hour as a 1099 role once payroll taxes, paid sick time, and retirement match are factored in).

Responsibilities
  • Provide structured, engaging Algebra I instruction to small groups of students using Toolkit Tutors or school-provided curriculum
  • Review student baseline data to tailor instruction to students’ individual needs
  • Help students deploy effective study skills, including personal organization, problem-solving strategies, and review techniques
  • Take daily attendance and tutoring notes using a personal mobile device
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and Toolkit Tutors leadership
