Job summary

MCHAP seeks a part-time Chaplain to serve employees and their families across client sites in Illinois. The role emphasizes Spanish language proficiency and a welcoming, faith-centered approach in workplace ministry.

Chaplains visit sites regularly, provide confidential pastoral support, and assist with life events, grief, and referrals, while maintaining professional boundaries and documentation.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and interfaith setting.
• Excellent listening and communication with clients, employees, and families.
• Strong spiritual maturity and commitment to Christian values and ministry.
• Diplomatic, patient, and courteous in diverse group settings and sensitive issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication; able to handle stress with emotional stability.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret policies and provide clear follow-up.
• Proficient with computer tools; able to learn new software quickly.
• Must hold a valid state driver’s license and adequate auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills mission and Christian ministry of MCHAP by serving employees and their families.
• Visiting worksites weekly to build trust and relationships based on faith.
• Provide confidential pastoral discussions and referrals for employees and family needs.
• Assist with funeral planning and post-termination care as needed.
• Coordinate communication of life events and resources to employees and families.
• Engage in orientation to explain Employee Care Service and Chaplain role.
