Job summary

Northside Center for Child Development in New York City seeks a Bilingual Spanish School Social Worker to provide counseling and support to students, families, and school staff in English and Spanish.

You will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop interventions, coordinate with teachers and families, and translate/interpret to ensure equitable access to services. The role requires an MSW with NY license preferred and experience in education or clinical settings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
• New York State Social Work certification/licensure preferred.
• Fluent in English and Spanish with strong translation/interpreter skills.
• Experience providing counseling in education or clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide bilingual English/Spanish individual, group, and family counseling to support student success.
• Conduct psychosocial and behavioral assessments including FBAs to guide interventions.
• Develop and implement therapeutic and behavioral strategies to improve student functioning.
• Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to implement support plans.

OBJECTIVES

Reporting to the Chief of Rehab Services the BilingualSpanish Social Worker assists students both bilingual Spanish and monolingual with learning by providing Psychological Counseling that identify and address the social emotional environmental issues that interfere with optimizing the educational experience Working with parentsguardians teachers managers administrative staff and Director along with community based resources the Bilingual Social Worker facilitates and implements strategies that promote students positive social adjustment Additionally the Bilingual Social supports communication with all families by generating written communication in the familys home language along with serving as interpretertranslator for the program at large in meeting the needs of the students and families that attend our program

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide bilingual EnglishSpanish individual group and family and parent counseling services to support students social emotional and academic success
• Conduct psychosocial and behavioral assessments including Functional Behavioral Assessments FBAs to identify barriers to learning and support intervention planning
• Develop and implement therapeutic and behavioral interventions to improve student functioning and promote positive school adjustment
• Collaborate with educators administrators related service providers and families to create and implement effective student support strategies
• Serve as a liaison between home and school fostering family engagement and participation in educational planning and special education processes
• Provide consultation training and crisis intervention support to school staff regarding student behavioral and social emotional needs
• Facilitate psychoeducational groups social skills training classroom presentations and therapeutic activities for students
• Coordinate community resources and provide translation and interpretation services to ensure equitable access and communication for Spanish speaking families

SPECIFIC SKILLS

• Deliver bilingual EnglishSpanish counseling and social emotional support to diverse student populations
• Assess student needs through psychosocial evaluations behavioral assessments and data informed interventions
• Develop and implement therapeutic behavioral and crisis intervention strategies that promote student success
• Build collaborative partnerships with families educators administrators and community stakeholders to support student outcomes
• Facilitate psychoeducational groups social skills development and classroom based interventions
• Provide staff consultation behavioral coaching and professional support to enhance student centered practices
• Interpret translate and communicate effectively in English and Spanish to ensure equitable access to services and information
