Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an Interpreter/Translator to bridge communication between district personnel and families using languages other than English. The role supports academic achievement and family engagement, working on-site under supervision with school staff to implement Board policies.

Responsibilities include providing interpretation and translation for schools, assisting families with enrollment and school processes, attending IEP meetings, and translating letters and notices

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish or another language required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and translating services for assigned schools or departments.
• Collaborate with staff to provide information to parents/guardians and other stakeholders regarding curriculum, assessment, school and district performance, policies, and procedures in a language they understand.
• Translate letters, forms, newsletters, and other correspondence.
• Attend IEP meetings, parent conferences, orientations, and other student assessment meetings.
• Assist families with navigating school processes such as enrollment, hardship applications, and residency appeals.
• Maintain confidentiality and support non-traditional schedules such as after school or weekend events.
