Job summary

Gertens Family of Businesses seeks a Bilingual Safety Coordinator (English/Spanish) to implement and administer workplace safety programs across multiple locations. You’ll promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, identify hazards, and help prevent injuries.

You will train, inspect, investigate incidents, maintain documentation, and support improvement initiatives while traveling 20–30% across the Twin Cities area.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish with the ability to train and instruct in both languages.
• 2+ years of relevant occupational safety, environmental health, or related experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and applicable safety standards.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain safety policies and procedures per laws and best practices.
• Conduct safety training in English and Spanish via classroom, toolbox talks, and online platforms.
• Communicate safety policies and corrective actions to English- and Spanish-speaking employees.
• Perform workplace inspections across offices, retail, warehouse, greenhouse, nursery, etc.
• Investigate accidents and near misses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
• Recommend equipment/process improvements to reduce risk.
• Promote a positive safety culture and encourage hazard reporting.
• Maintain training, inspection, incident, and corrective-action records.
• Monitor regulatory changes and emerging safety technologies.
• Support safety management systems and pre-use inspection processes.
• Assist with OSHA, DOT, EPA/MDA programs and inspections as assigned.
• Support safety committee activities and safety metric tracking.
• Travel between multiple locations in Twin Cities metro as needed.
