Job summary

Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, IL is hiring Care Providers for the Unaccompanied Children Shelter. Openings cover evening and overnight shifts with the Long-Term Group Home program, serving youth ages 12–17 in a trauma-informed environment.

The role emphasizes daily care, safe supervision, and learning of positive behaviors, with required trainings and a commitment to serving diverse youth populations.

Qualifications

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) language competency required.
• Ability to use good judgment, and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations.
• Successful completion of staff education requirements including: Pre-Service training, NCI, CPR, and ARC Model.
• Ability to establish trust and positive rapport with children, and work within ethical boundaries.
• Ability to effectively prioritize job duties and needs of the children.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), and documentation programs.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to drive a passenger van.

Responsibilities

• Follows all Maryville policies and procedures and SOPs for the Unaccompanied Children Program.
• Provides for the basic needs of Unaccompanied Children including nutrition, hygiene, clothing, daily routines, recreation, laundry and education.
• Acts as a role model for children/youth.
• Maintains consistent supervision of youth.
• Provides safe transportation of child/youth to scheduled activities.
• Completes all required logs, forms and reports.
• Attends at least 40 hours of advanced training/workshops annually.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
