Shriners Children’s is seeking a Medical Interpreter to provide interpretation and translation services for patients, family members and staff across hospital settings. You will support the medical treatment plan, address language and cultural barriers, and work with the care team to ensure understanding and informed consent.

The role emphasizes language access, cultural liaison, and collaboration with CDI/UM and Care Management to optimize patient outcomes in a pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year interpretation work experience in English and Spanish.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
• 1 year clinical medical interpretation.
• 1 year medical terminology.
• Medical Interpretation Certification.

Responsabilités

• Provides interpretation for patients, families and caregivers to ensure understanding, informed consent, and adherence to the treatment plan.
• Translates clinical, procedural and educational documents via written or oral translation.
• Assists SHC employees in understanding cultural differences and language barriers in patient care.
• Participates with CDI/UM and Care Management to plan future care for patients with language barriers.
• Maintains ethical boundaries and professional interactions with patients and families.
• Facilitates service recovery for patient/family concerns when language barriers exist.
