Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) Palmdale Regional Medical Group – Family Medicine clinic is opening a new site in Palmdale.

We are seeking dedicated Medical Assistants to support patient care and front desk operations as part of a growing clinic team. Responsibilities include patient interviews, vital signs, venipuncture, EMR documentation, and appointment scheduling, with bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, BP, weight, height).
  • Perform venipuncture and procedures per physician guidance within state scope of practice.
  • Document in Electronic Medical Record per IPM guidelines.
  • Assist with front desk coverage and daily clerical operations as needed.
  • File and scan patient charts; schedule appointments including return visits and specialists.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking 3 Full-Time Medical Assistants. This position will be based out of our new Palmdale clinic. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Duties include but not limited to:

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and procedure as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State.
  • Documentation is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines.
  • Assists in coverage of the front desk as required.
  • Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents, as necessary.
  • Accurately files patient charts; including scanning documents into files, as necessary.
  • Schedules patient appointments as necessary, including return visits and Specialists.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

Experience/Training/Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required.
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Healthcare policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ability to set priorities and appropriately organize workload and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
  • Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
  • Participates in decision-making and process improvement.
  • General medical office procedures.
  • Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol).
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ensures that patient rooms, nursing station and storage rooms are kept stocked and clean. Manages product expiration date; ensures all equipment is kept clean according to infection prevention standards.
  • Distributes referrals as necessary to physicians and insurance companies; keep proper documentation of referral requests/responses in patient charts.
