Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is hiring a Medicaid Eligibility Advocate to screen patients for insurance coverage and government assistance, verify benefits, and manage documentation for eligibility determinations. The role acts as a liaison between patients, hospital staff, and governmental agencies.

The position requires strong organizational skills, bilingual Spanish preferred, and willingness to perform field visits as needed.

Qualifications

• Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage, federal and state assistance programs, or hospital charity applications.
• Re-verifies benefits and obtains authorization and/or referral after treatment plan has been discussed, prior to initiation of treatment; ensures signatures on all forms.
• Obtain legally relevant medical evidence, physician statements and all documentation required for eligibility determination.
• Complete and file applications; initiate and maintain follow-up with patients and government agency caseworkers to ensure timely processing and documentation.
• Ensure all insurance, demographic and eligibility information is entered into the system and that progress notes are documented.
• Participates in ongoing, comprehensive training programs as required.
• Follow policies and procedures to contribute to office efficiency and provide coverage for other functions as needed.
• Will be required to make field visits and have reliable personal transportation.
