Job summary

Ascend Nonprofit Solutions in Charlotte, NC is seeking a compassionate advocate to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child maltreatment. You will provide intake, assessment, case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals; deliver in-person and virtual courtroom support; assist with DVPO paperwork and coordinate care; and facilitate survivor support groups.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma, experience in human services, and Spanish-speaking

• Preference for experience working with victims or in human services.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the agency mission by providing hope and healing to those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child maltreatment by:

• As applicable, provide intake, assessment, case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, court education, information, and referrals.
• Provide in-person and virtual courtroom support, accompaniment, and outreach to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and child maltreatment.
• Assist clients with completing DVPO paperwork and ensure coordinated care with key community partners.
• Act with the client in mind and work to meet the client’s needs and expectations to the extent possible.
• Facilitate support group(s).

Administration

• Maintain confidential and accurate, up-to-date client, stakeholder, intern, and volunteer records in agency databases (e.g., CSN, Raiser's Edge, Financial Edge, Timeforce).
• Research, write, and manage grant reporting and grantor relationships as assigned by the supervisor.
• Adhere to agency and program procedures concerning documentation, Critical Incident Reports, and Client Satisfaction Surveys, and participate in the Quality Assurance process.
• Translate Safe Alliance documents when applicable.

Stewardship

• Increase awareness of victimization, prevention, and available resources through public speaking and media requests as assigned by the supervisor.
• Participate in community meetings and committees as assigned by the supervisor.
• Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, interns, stakeholders, and community partners.

Professional Development

• Contribute to quality of services by staying informed of best practices, developments, and trends in trauma and victimization, especially as it relates to intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and child maltreatment.
• Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending training and ensuring licensure and certifications are up to date as needed for the job.
• Contribute to agency effectiveness by performing other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Preference for experience working with victims or in human services.
• Spanish-speaking preferred.

Physical Requirements
