Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program in Bolingbrook, IL seeks a licensed mental health professional to deliver trauma-informed services on-site, manage an active caseload, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to support youth and families.

Requires a Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field, licensure or eligibility within three years, bilingual English/Spanish, and ability to travel up to 25–30% for unification activities; strong documentation and scheduling are essential.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed mental health services.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the program's mission and values.
• Collaborate with cross-functional service team to provide trauma-informed mental health services including assessments, referrals, and identification of human trafficking concerns.
• Provide child-facing services on site and maintain an active clinical caseload according to program ratios.
• Conduct mental health assessments and offer ongoing individual and group counseling, including crisis intervention as needed.
• Facilitate family sessions and visits to foster caregiver homes as scheduled.
• Monitor client well-being, arrange services, and coordinate external specialized services with community providers.
• Complete required assessments within expected timeframes (Risk, UC, Human Trafficking, RST, safety plans, post-18 plans).
• Provide documentation and consultation on client functioning, mental health status, and treatment needs.
• Participate in staffing activities with cross-functional team and stakeholders.
• Orient children in care and travel to provide community-based services as required.
• Complete all required documentation and training in a timely manner and meet productivity thresholds.
• Coordinate and monitor services for youth and family in the community, including medical, educational, psychological and social services.
• Screen for human trafficking concerns and provide crisis intervention services.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling, or a related behavioral discipline where clinical experience is required.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure. Non-licensed staff must actively pursue licensure and obtain it within three years of employment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required.
• Proficiency with desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and database programs.
• Willingness to work flexible, non-traditional hours with possible on-call nights and weekends.
• Ability to organize, navigate, and escort youth to travel destinations (flights, trains, buses). Travel may include up to 25-30% out-of-state trips for unification purposes.
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily liability.
• Minimum 21 years of age, valid state driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and good driving record.
