Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Civil Investigator to perform professional investigations, verify facts, and communicate with landowners both verbally and in writing. The role supports the Border Fence Project with documented reports and project files.

Requirements include extensive law enforcement experience, English-Spanish proficiency, and ability to testify in court. DOJ background check and U.S. citizenship are required. Full-time with benefits available.

Qualifications

• Fifteen years law enforcement experience (preferred federal law experience).
• Experience in condemnation and working on complex investigations preferred.
• Foreign language skills are required (English-Spanish).
• Significant experience in testifying in court.
• Must have above average written and oral communication skills.
• Subject to a Department of Justice background investigation and clear background check.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional investigations to clarify/verify facts.
• Review correspondence and guidance for the Border Fence Project.
• Understand rights of entry for government condemnation matters.
• Communicate with landowners verbally and in writing.
• Prepare Border Fence Project files and correspondence.
• Provide written reports/analysis of information.
• Travel in support of investigation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
