Job summary

GLIDE seeks a Childcare Eligibility Specialist to assess FYCC program eligibility and connect families to housing, job training, health services, and parenting skills.

You will work with families to set goals for self-sufficiency, co-facilitate groups, and support non-traditional hours in a nonprofit, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Associate degree in sociology, child development, human services or related field.

Responsibilities

• Administer enrollment procedures for Childcare and update eligibility files to meet funding regulations.
• Prepare and review eligibility updates; participate in case management meetings.
• Build relationships with families, provide bilingual support, and assist with goal setting and progress tracking.
• Co-facilitate therapeutic interventions and workshops for families referred through the eligibility process.
• Advocate and collaborate with teachers, counselors, employment specialists, CPS workers, and other community resources.
• Maintain up-to-date information on community resources tailored to families' needs.
• Conduct outreach to engage families who may be hesitant to seek services.
• Maintain confidential records and participate in audits to ensure compliance.

Position Summary

The Childcare Eligibility Specialist meets with both potential and current families to assess eligibility for FYCC programs and subsidized services. In this role, you will be a vital team member, working closely with families to evaluate their needs and strengths while helping set goals for self-sufficiency. You will also connect families to resources, including housing, job training, health services, and parenting skills, while co-facilitating groups and workshops offered at FYCC. Responsibilities And Duties

• Administer enrollment procedures for Childcare and update client eligibility files to meet compliance with funding regulations.
• Prepare and review eligibility updates for ongoing services, participating in case management meetings when necessary.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with families, offering bilingual (Spanish and English) support, and assisting with goal setting and progress tracking.
• Co-facilitate therapeutic interventions and workshops for families referred through the eligibility process.
• Serve as an advocate, working closely with teachers, counselors, employment specialists, CPS workers, and other community resources.
• Maintain and distribute up-to-date information on community resources tailored to families' needs.
• Conduct outreach to engage families who may be hesitant to seek services.
• Organize and co-facilitate quarterly parent advisory meetings and support groups.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and confidentiality of case files in alignment with contracts.
• Actively participate in audits and maintain contract compliance.
• Keep supervisors informed of any concerns and participate in team meetings to improve program effectiveness.
• Demonstrate commitment to diversity, cultural competence, and ethical work practices.
• Support Toddler and Preschool classrooms as needed, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be fluent in Spanish and English
• Minimum of an associate degree in sociology, child development, human services or related field;
• Knowledge of social service functions or health activities and relevant public and private agencies related to child care.
• Direct experience with determining eligibility for a public assistance program, interviewing clients, and managing a small caseload of clients.
• Must have familiarity with local, state, and national resources for children, youth, and families.
• Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in a position involving community or social work case manager and/or eligibility.
• Must have the ability to use computer to enter client data and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to organize a number of simultaneous assignments. Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned duties.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to all infant/toddler program families and family child care providers.

Health And Background Requirements

• Must pass tuberculosis screening.
• Proof of pertussis, influenza, and measles vaccinations.
• Must clear a Department of Justice background check.

$29 - $34.45 an hour

This is a full-time (40 hour/week), non-exempt position.

Work Environment

GLIDE’s buildings are located in the Tenderloin neighborhood. GLIDE maintains an "open door" policy to the community and its clients, who frequently enter and leave the building. This role is covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
