Job summary

Positive Development is hiring a Bilingual (Spanish) Child Development Specialist in Plainfield, NJ. This part-time role focuses on coaching autistic children to build communication, social, and daily living skills through play-based interactions.

You will work directly with families in a home-based setting, following a relationship-based intervention model, and collaborate with experienced clinicians and supervisors. A strong interest in human development and learning is highly valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (must be 18+)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (30-40 min drive radius)
• Ability to complete physical tasks, including playing on the floor for up to two-three hours per session and lifting up to 40 lbs
• Strong communication with families and teammates

Responsibilities

• Build communication, social, and daily living skills through play and shared activities
• Create meaningful connections to help children think, create, and engage with the world
• Follow a relationship-based intervention model designed to achieve outcomes with fewer session hours
• Track progress by documenting session notes and goal outcomes
• Collaborate with clinicians and supervisors to build clinical skills and confidence
• Learn evidence-based developmental care in real life, not just textbooks
