National Youth Advocate Program in Phoenix seeks an Assistant Educator for La Jornada to support teaching staff, help develop lesson plans based on state requirements, and monitor each child’s progress.

The role requires an Associate degree in education or early childhood education, bilingual English/Spanish, and strong communication. You will collaborate with the Lead Educator, assist with daily lesson plans, and help individual children grow.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in education and/or early childhood education.
• ECE certification (preferred).
• 2+ years experience as Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional with minority children in a classroom.
• Proficient with computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, copiers, and common software.
• Bilingual: English and Spanish; fluency in Spanish required.
• Must be 21 years old with valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing lesson plans based on state requirements and student needs.
• Collaborate with Lead Educator to monitor academic progress.
• Deliver daily lesson plans and assist when teacher is absent.
• Work with individual children to promote learning and development.

Provide feedback to the Lead Educator about the progress of the children and discuss important issues pertaining to the children on a regular basis.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Assistant Educator for La Jornada will perform duties including, but not limited to:Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.Assist in developing lesson plans based on state requirements and the specific needs of each child.Collaborate with educator to monitor the academic progress of each child.Collaborate with educator to deliver daily lesson plans, as well as understand how the classroom is run in the event that the teacher is absent on a particular day.Work with individual children in the classroom to promote their learning and development.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociate degree in education and/or early childhood education.Valid ECE certification preferred.2+ years’ experience as a Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional, working with minority children in a classroom environment.Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.Bilingual (English Spanish).
