Responsibilities

  • Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings.
  • Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment.
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal.

REPORTS TO: Campus Principal

WAGE HOUR/STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

PAY GRADE: 030

DUTY DAYS: 187 Days

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist the classroom teacher in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate
  • High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to work well with children
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Ability to operate a computer using a variety of basic applications
  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings
