Job summary

zData Inc is seeking a seasoned DevOps Engineer to design, implement and automate scalable architectures for our Big Data and analytics platforms, spanning cloud (AWS, GCP) and on-prem clusters.

You will optimize build and deployment pipelines, ensure data security and disaster recovery, and collaborate with data engineers to accelerate delivery of analytics solutions. The role requires hands-on scripting, Ansible/Terraform expertise, and a passion for cloud-native infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Ability to learn quickly.
• Hands on experience using Massively Parallel Processing technology.
• Exposure to one or more MPP DBMS (Teradata, Vertica, Netezza, Greenplum).
• Expert in Ansible and Terraform.
• Experience with Big Data Technologies.
• Experience with Data Warehousing and ETL/ELT.
• Experience with AWS, Google Cloud.
• 5+ years of technical expertise.
• Ability to Travel.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, implementation and automation of system architectures that scale with custom requirements.
• Create and support cloud (AWS and GCP) and local cluster environment and infrastructure.
• Assist with automation of builds and deployment of software products.
• Prepare and implement data security, backup and disaster recovery.
• Help optimize software development and deployment.
• Experience programming and/or scripting (python or java preferred).
• Experience working with Ansible and Terraform.
• Exposure to big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL, EMR, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kafka, ElasticSearch).
• Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
• Familiarity with software development practices such as Agile, Pair, XP.
• Familiarity with code repository tech (GIT).
