Job summary

Axius Inc in Austin, Texas, is seeking a senior software developer to be responsible for the overall architecture of our back end systems. This position requires significant experience with enterprise-level data architecture and large database interactions.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, especially with technologies like Hadoop, Java, and Postgres, and will work closely with teams to innovate data mining algorithms and maintain scalable systems.

• Responsible for overall architecture for our back end system.

Job description

Responsible for overall architecture for our back end system

Works closely with the Director of Big Data in helping to design, develop, test and maintain back end systems

Provide unit tests for these software applications

Participate in multi-disciplinary projects

Work with analysts creating cutting edge data mining algorithms

Contribute to our team’s growing set of development platforms, tools, and processes

Qualifications

Experience with enterprise level data architecture

Prior experience in Hadoop / MapReduce / Cascading / Hive / HDFS

Experience with large database interactions (Postgres is desired)

Experience with highly scalable systems

Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly

Excellent problem-solving abilities

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment

Excellent verbal and communication skills

Experience with Impala or Spark is a plus

Experience with web crawling and content indexing is a plus

Experience with Python and R is a plus

Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus

BS in Computer Science or other technical discipline (with significant computer coursework)
