Data Engineer with 6+ years of experience in building data-intensive applications, addressing challenging architectural and scalability issues, with exposure to extracting insights from data using BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, MS SQL Server, and OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition). Demonstrates strong knowledge in data migration and data warehousing, with excellent communication skills to interact with business units for requirements gathering and BI solution delivery.

This position is expected to be hybrid.

NYC Salary Range - $105,000 - $140,000 annually; compensation is commensurate with geographic location.

What You'll Do

• Uphold UNFCU’s mission, core values, and guiding principles by providing exceptional service to colleagues and members, demonstrating service excellence behaviors.
• Collaborate with Analysts, Product Managers, and business users to gather requirements, troubleshoot, and enhance existing data assets.
• Develop backend applications in databases using TSQL/PLSQL in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database, including writing complex stored procedures.
• Show strong exposure to relational database technologies like Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, and Data Lake House.
• Troubleshoot data accuracy and performance issues, optimizing indexes, transaction isolation levels, and code.
• Resolve database performance issues by analyzing query plans, creating indexes, and resolving deadlocks.
• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain reports using SSRS and/or OBIEE.
• Design and propose solutions, securing necessary approvals.
• Manage development, testing, and deployment across multiple environments.
• Implement change control and testing processes for database modifications.
• Follow data protection, network security, and antivirus policies.
• Possibly demonstrate familiarity with dimensional models like SSAS cube and tabular models.
• Possibly demonstrate knowledge of shell scripting languages.
• Stay updated on industry trends through training, conferences, and seminars.
• Participate in UNFCU training and development programs.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.

What We're Seeking

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• 6+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• 6+ years of experience with ETL tools like Microsoft SSIS.
• 3 years of software development experience on BI platforms such as SSRS, Power BI, Tableau.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server.
• Experience in data migration and warehousing, troubleshooting complex issues.
• Proven ability to develop dashboards and reports.
• Experience in data migration, data marts, Oracle PL/SQL, and DBA activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, managing multiple initiatives.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
