Job summary

The Leadership Agency Inc. seeks a BI Data Architect to own the Microsoft Fabric platform for a flagship New York City cultural institution. This brand‑new seat designs what comes next, handling ingestion, lakehouse design, governance and the Power BI layer used by business users.

You’ll design and manage Fabric pipelines, implement Bronze/Silver/Gold, mentor a small BI team, and work with the CIO on the data roadmap. Not remote; on-site first 3 months, then hybrid.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in data architecture, data engineering or BI engineering.
• Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience with end-to-end pipelines and lakehouses.
• Strong knowledge of Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion architecture and governance.
• Proficiency in T-SQL, Python and the Azure data stack; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage pipelines and lakehouses in Fabric across Bronze/Silver/Gold layers.
• Build out data governance standards, documentation, quality monitoring and security.
• Partner with analysts to translate architecture into trusted dashboards.
• Mentor the BI team and drive organization-wide data self-service adoption.

Are you a Microsoft Fabric specialist who wants to own the whole platform instead of one slice of it?**What's the Job?**As the BI Data Architect, you'll be the in-house Fabric authority for one of New York City's most iconic cultural institutions. This is a brand-new seat — you're not inheriting someone else's architecture, you're designing what comes next.The organization has run two successful Fabric pilots with a Microsoft medallion partner and proved the model works. Now they want that expertise in-house. You'll own the data architecture end to end: ingestion, ETL/ELT, lakehouse design, governance standards, and the Power BI layer that business users actually touch.You'll report to the Director of BI, sit on a four-person BI team, and work directly with the CIO on the data roadmap.Some of what you'll be doing:* Designing and managing pipelines and lakehouses in Microsoft Fabric — moving data through Bronze, Silver and Gold layers* Building out data governance: standards, documentation, quality monitoring, security* Partnering with analysts to turn architecture into dashboards people trust* Mentoring the team and bringing the wider organization along toward self-service BI**Who Are We?**We are a world-renowned New York City performing arts institution, presenting the finest artists on our stages for well over a century, and running music education and social impact programs that reach more than 800,000 people a year. Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks, Lakehouse/OneLake* Working knowledge of medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) in production* Strong Power BI — enterprise reporting on governed models, not just report-building* Advanced T-SQL and the Azure data stack (Data Factory, Data Lake Storage)* Python for data engineering and automation* A real grasp of data governance, security and compliance* Excellent communication — you'll be training and supporting non-technical business users every week**Nice to Have*** Azure API Management / API-first architecture* SSRS* Curiosity about how good architecture and data quality underpin ML and GenAI work**Compensation*** $140,000 – $150,000* Excellent benefits, including a pension after a qualifying period* Summer Fridays* A real 9-to-5 culture — no weekends, no on-call heroics* On-site five days a week for the first three months, then eligible for hybrid (3 on-site / 2 remote) at your manager's discretion.
