Job summary

Connections Health Solutions is seeking a Physician Assistant to serve as the attending clinician responsible for individualized crisis-care and rapid stabilization. Responsibilities

  • Acts as attending clinician for assigned individuals and coordinates comprehensive, individualized care with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Performs initial psychiatric evaluations, crisis interventions, risk assessments, and capacity assessments for treatment.
  • Collaborates with individuals, families and team to set treatment goals and discharge plans.
  • Documents clinical information accurately in the health record and ensures informed consent and medication education.
  • Reviews health assessments, histories, and conducts focused physical examinations as indicated.
  • Orders and reviews labs and diagnostics to guide treatment decisions with the care team.
  • Communicates with primary care, ED, psychiatry, and community partners to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provides clinical guidance on treatment plans, medication management, and safety considerations.
  • Participates in treatment-team and medical staff meetings and supports shared decision-making.

  • +$4.50/hr -> Monday-Thursday Nights
  • +$9.00/hr -> Friday-Sunday Nights

What You’ll Do:
  • Serves as the attending clinician for assigned individuals and works closely with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive, individualized care throughout the individual’s stay.
  • Completes initial psychiatric evaluations, focused diagnostic assessments, crisis and family interventions, risk assessments, and assessments of capacity to consent to treatment. Incorporates the medical, psychological, social, behavioral, and developmental aspects of care into treatment and discharge planning.
  • Collaborates with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members to establish treatment goals, evaluate progress, update treatment plans, provide education, and coordinate safe and effective discharge planning.
  • Documents timely and accurate clinical information in the health record, including admission orders, progress notes, treatment decisions, and discharge orders. Ensures medication education and informed consent are completed in accordance with established policies.
  • Reviews nursing health assessments, obtains relevant medical histories, and conducts focused physical examinations as clinically indicated and consistent with established guidelines.
  • Orders and reviews laboratory and diagnostic tests in accordance with clinical standards and uses findings to guide treatment decisions in collaboration with the care team.
  • Communicates and coordinates with primary care physicians, emergency department clinicians, outpatient behavioral health providers, psychiatric providers, and other community partners to support continuity of care.
  • Provides clinical guidance to the interdisciplinary team regarding individual needs, treatment approaches, medication management, safety risks, level-of-care decisions, and treatment-plan updates. Reviews and incorporates available clinical documentation into care decisions.
  • Applies evidence-based practices when prescribing and managing medications and communicates relevant treatment information to individuals, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to evaluate individuals receiving voluntary or involuntary services. Reviews petitions, completes required assessments, and coordinates with the legal system in accordance with applicable requirements and established guidelines.
  • Participates actively in interdisciplinary treatment-team meetings, medical staff meetings, regional and quarterly meetings, and other meetings requested by Medical Leadership.
  • Promotes a respectful, collaborative, and team-based care environment by communicating effectively, supporting shared decision-making, and partnering across disciplines to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Physician Assitant
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Active and unrestricted Pennsylvania Physician Assistant license issued by the appropriate Pennsylvania licensing board
  • Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification
  • Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances, including Schedule III medications, as applicable to the role
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification must be obtained within seven days of hire
  • Must pass the following Pennsylvania background checks
  • Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
  • Medical screenings (Physical, TB, and Drug test)
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment.
  • Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including but not limited to obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials as required for the role.
It would be great if you had:
  • Physician Assistant
  • Experience providing psychiatric, behavioral health, crisis stabilization, addiction treatment, or recovery services
  • Experience prescribing or managing medications for substance use disorders, including buprenorphine, when consistent with scope of practice and applicable requirements
  • Experience providing care to children, adolescents, adults, and/or families in a behavioral health or crisis setting
