Job summary

The Mobilization Center is seeking a motivated Rural Hub Organizer to conduct direct voter and community outreach in Bethel, Alaska. This seasonal, full-time role requires a minimum of 30 hours per week of canvassing, primarily door-to-door, with occasional phone outreach and integrated reporting responsibilities.

You will work independently under the supervision of the RIO Field Manager, attend weekly meetings, and maintain data and materials for field work while ensuring community engagement

  • Attend required weekly meetings with the RIO Field Manager and Mobilization Center staff.
  • Maintain regular communication with the RIO Field Manager regarding progress and field needs.
  • Participate in training to strengthen canvassing and community engagement skills.
  • Record canvassing data and submit required reporting forms.
  • Represent The Mobilization Center professionally while working independently.
  • Follow all policies, safety procedures, and data security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RIO Field Manager.

Job description

Position Overview

The Mobilization Center is seeking a motivated, reliable, and community-focused Rural Hub Organizer to conduct direct voter and community outreach in their local community. This position will work independently under the supervision of the RIO Field Manager and will be responsible for consistently meeting established field and outreach goals.

The Rural Hub Organizer will spend a minimum of 30 hours per week actively canvassing, including primarily door-to-door with occasional phone canvassing. The remaining work time will be dedicated to meetings, training, data entry, follow-up, preparation, and other organizing responsibilities.

Because this position operates independently, the ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, comfortable managing their own daily workflow, and committed to maintaining regular communication with their supervisor.

  • Position Type: Seasonal, Full-Time, guaranteed work through November 6th, 2026
  • Payroll: $2,240 per biweekly paycheck
  • Supervisor: RIO Field Manager
  • Schedule: Full-time with flexibility based on canvassing needs, community events, and program priorities

Regular Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct a minimum of 30 hours of direct canvassing each week, including a combination of door-to-door and phone canvassing.
  • Independently manage assigned canvassing schedules, turf, call lists, and daily outreach responsibilities.
  • Meet established weekly and monthly expectations for door knocking, phone calls, voter contacts, and other assigned outreach metrics.
  • Attend required weekly meetings with the RIO Field Manager and other Mobilization Center staff as requested.
  • Maintain regular and reliable communication with the RIO Field Manager regarding progress, challenges, community feedback, and field needs.
  • Participate in training, coaching, and practice sessions to strengthen canvassing and community engagement skills.
  • Communicate directly with community members about assigned issues, programs, campaigns, and civic engagement opportunities using approved scripts and materials.
  • Accurately track and submit canvassing data, including door and phone results, contact information, and other required reporting.
  • Complete all required nightly or weekly check-out procedures, including syncing data, entering information, and completing assigned reporting forms.
  • Maintain assigned technology, printed materials, literature, and other organizational resources needed to conduct field work.
  • Identify community events, outreach opportunities, and other potential opportunities for meaningful engagement and communicate them to the RIO Field Manager.
  • Represent The Mobilization Center professionally and respectfully while working independently in the community.
  • Follow all organizational policies, field safety procedures, data security requirements, and project-specific guidelines.
  • Immediately communicate challenges involving technology, data, safety, community interactions, or other issues that may affect the success of the program.
  • Participate in occasional events, tabling opportunities, community meetings, or other outreach activities as assigned.
  • Assist with data entry, program reporting, field analysis, and other administrative responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RIO Field Manager or The Mobilization Center leadership.
Expectations for Success

The Community Organizer is expected to be comfortable working independently while remaining accountable to the larger field team. Successful organizers will demonstrate strong time management, consistent communication, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to meet established door and phone canvassing goals without requiring daily in-person supervision.

This position requires significant direct interaction with community members and the ability to adapt to changing field conditions, schedules, and program priorities throughout the election season.
