Job description

We are seeking a hands-on energy professional to own the day-to-day operation, performance oversight, commercial settlement, and technical coordination of company-owned distributed energy assets in California. The sites integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV, EV charging infrastructure, metering, and EMS/SCADA controls.

This is not a schedule-only project management role. The successful candidate will understand how the electrical and control systems work, use operating data to identify issues, and drive O&M providers and equipment vendors to resolution. As new projects are developed, the role will also support electrical design review, system integration, EPC coordination, commissioning, and project execution under the direction of the Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities

1. Asset Operations, Performance & Technical Issue Management

  • Monitor BESS, PV, EV charging, metering, and associated electrical equipment for availability, performance, alarms, faults, trips, and abnormal operating trends.
  • Review EMS/SCADA and meter data; identify data-quality, communication, control-logic, and system-interface issues and coordinate corrective action.
  • Lead technical follow-up with O&M providers, EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and equipment vendors, including root-cause analysis, action tracking, and verification of completed work.
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance, warranty claims, equipment service history, recurring failures, punch-list items, and critical spare-part needs.
  • Provide site support for inspections, troubleshooting, major maintenance, or urgent system events when required.

2. Settlement, Contract Administration & Incentive Management

  • Validate operational and revenue-meter data used to bill customers for electricity supplied under PPAs and through EV charging operations.
  • Prepare or support recurring customer settlement, invoice backup, variance review, and reconciliation with internal finance and project stakeholders.
  • Track technical and operating obligations under customer, O&M, warranty, and other project agreements; escalation exceptions and maintain supporting records.
  • Prepare, submit, and administer applicable incentive claims, including milestone tracking, evidence packages, follow-up, compliance records, and receipt confirmation.

3. EMS, SCADA, Electrical Systems & Controls

  • Understand interfaces among batteries/BMS, PCS, EMS, SCADA, site controllers, protection relays, switchgear, transformers, meters, PV, EV chargers, and utility systems.
  • Review SLDs, electrical/control drawings, communications, equipment specifications, operating modes, interlocks, and test records; coordinate vendor implementation and testing of required configuration or control changes.

4. Reporting, Stakeholder Coordination & Documentation

  • Issue concise operating reports covering performance, settlement, technical issues, maintenance, warranty, risks, decisions, and accountable action owners.
  • Maintain operating records and troubleshooting history, and serve as the bilingual technical bridge between Korean headquarters/partners and U.S. stakeholders.
  • Support technical due diligence, system architecture and equipment configuration, SLD/design review, vendor submittals, RFIs, and interface resolution for new BESS, PV, EV charging, or distributed energy projects.
  • Support EPC coordination, installation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, integrated testing, punch-list closure, as-builts, and operations handover. Utility/interconnection support is secondary to the core operating role.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent directly relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years in power systems, electrical equipment, energy storage, renewable/distributed energy, EPC, system integration, or asset operations; approximately 5-10 years is the target range.
  • Practical BESS and electrical-system understanding, including independent review of SLDs and analysis of electrical, controls, communications, metering, and equipment-interface issues.
  • Working knowledge of EMS/SCADA data, alarms, operating modes, control logic, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to manage vendors, O&M providers, action items, technical documentation, and issue closure with limited supervision.
  • Fluent professional English for meetings, email, and technical documentation, plus professional Korean for headquarters and partner coordination; ability to travel for site support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BESS SI, EPC engineering, commissioning, O&M, or asset operations experience, including detailed engineering/test oversight rather than schedule-only PM work.
  • Experience with PCS, battery/BMS, EMS, SCADA, protection, metering, PV, or EV charging systems.
  • Customer billing or energy settlement, PPAs, incentives, performance guarantees, or revenue-meter reconciliation.
  • California and PG&E project experience; familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IEEE 1547, UL 9540/9540A, or Rule 21; EIT, PE, PMP, or similar certification.
Location & Travel

Preferred: San Jose or the San Francisco Bay Area. Strong candidates able to work from the New York office will also be considered if they can travel to California as needed. Future construction or commissioning may require additional travel.

Initial Success Priorities | First 6-12 Months
  • Master the sites' architecture, contracts, operating data, vendors, open issues, and maintenance/warranty status.
  • Own a reliable monthly operating, settlement, and incentive process with accurate, audit-ready records.
  • Improve issue closure, reduce recurring faults, document lessons learned, and feed engineering/O&M improvements into future projects.

We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
