Position Title and Purpose of Position
We are seeking a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Application Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between Sales, Customers, and Engineering teams for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The BESS Application Engineer will drive project proposals, size systems, control schemes, create conceptual designs, and provide technical guidance during the design, construction, and commissioning phases to ensure optimal technical and commercial solutions.
Salary
Salary range: $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 USD, salary commensurate with education and experience.
Annual Bonus Target: 5% of your annual base salary/annual wages, paid based on meeting both organizational and individual targets.
Major Responsibilities of Position
- Technical Sales Support:
- Analyze RFPs/RFQs, provide system architecture, and create technical proposals for both stand‑alone and PV coupled BESS.
- Develop and provide training for the Sales team on product offerings, financial models, and BESS operating modes.
- System Design & Sizing:
- Model and size BESS projects using software tools and 3rd party consultation, including DC/AC configuration, inverter pairing, use‑case, and manufacturer documentation review.
- Customer Liaison:
- Act as the technical expert in customer meetings to present solutions, clarify specifications, and negotiate technical exhibits.
- Project Integration:
- Collaborate with Engineering teams (internal and external) to finalize layouts and single lines.
- Provide guidance to Project Management teams for design, construction, and commissioning schedules.
- Field Support:
- Support construction activities, storage, handling, delivery procedures, and installation methods.
- Support commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and site verification of systems.
- Miscellaneous:
- Occasional travel, as needed for sales support and to ensure the quality of system installation.
- Required to successfully pursue NABCEP Professional certification.
- All other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and in written form.
- Familiarity with NEC codes and basic electrical calculations for PV design.
- Ability to complete assignments both effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to interpret relevant industry codes, processes, and understand products in an engineering capacity.
- Must be able to represent Harvest Solar in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, tradeshow attendees, and any other contacts outside the Harvest organization.
- Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office suite, email etiquette, and design software.
- Willingness to pursue industry certifications and further education.
Educational and Certification Background
- Valid State Driver’s License; non‑restricted or suspended, is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience required; BESS system design experience preferred. Supervisor experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the solar BESS markets, preferred.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification, preferred.
- NABCEP Energy Storage Installation Professional Certification (ESIP), preferred.
Work Environment
- Commercial Construction Setting occasionally: Job Site terrain and outdoor work with exposure to weather fluctuations in addition to construction site hazards.
- Office Environment 100% of the time: Busy office with frequent interruptions and multi‑tasking required; standard office equipment is available including Microsoft Office. This is an in‑office position with remote work offered on an exception basis only, and must be approved by the area VP.
- Occasional Travel Required: Position supports the installation of solar systems and may be required to travel to site to support installation.

- Paid Holidays: Nine paid holidays per year (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve).
- Paid Time Off (PTO): 72 hours each year on January 1. PTO is not rolled over and is forfeited if unused. First year hours prorated based on date of hire.
- Paid Vacation: Vacation time accrued each week at a rate of .924 to achieve 48 hours in the calendar year. Unused vacation can be paid out and/or up to 40 unused hours can be rolled over at year end.
- 401(k) Matching Plan: Associates auto‑enrolled at a 3% deferral rate. Company match available: 3% matched when deferring 3%; first 3.5% matched when deferring 4%; first 4% matched when deferring 5%.

- Both pre‑tax and Roth account options available.
- Standard plans offered; associates may customize their investment selections.
