Job summary

Vornado Realty Trust is seeking a Benefits Administrator in Paramus, NJ to manage the leave process from initial request to return to work, coordinate with payroll, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and union agreements.

The role also handles enrollments, terminations, and changes for employees, maintains union benefit files, and serves as a primary back-up for processing benefits for 27 unions while supporting HR policies and programs.

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of Word & Excel programs, as well as Internet navigation capabilities.
  • Must possess positive interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well and in a positive manner to customers, employees, visitors, and vendors at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a somewhat fast paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the leave process from the employee's initial request to their return to work; determine eligibility, gather paperwork, and request medical certification.
  • Coordinate and organize medical information; work with payroll and department timekeepers to ensure accurate leave processing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, HR policies, and union agreements.
  • Advise employees and managers on leave policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Coordinate and organize medical information; work with payroll and department timekeepers to ensure accurate leave processing.
  • Serve as the primary backup for processing benefits for 27 different unions.
  • Maintain Building Maintenance Service health plan through unions; process enrollments, terminations, and changes using carrier systems.
  • Communicate with union Account Managers and Consultants on employer/member situations as they arise.
  • Review carrier eligibility reports versus active payroll for accurate premium processing.
  • Update ERP to reflect employee benefits selections and schedule deductions.
  • Prepare and maintain benefit and 401(k) enrollments for eligible employees.
  • Maintain benefit files for all eligible employees of Building Maintenance Service.

Job description

  • Serve as the primary backup employee responsible for processing benefits for 27 different unions
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Building Maintenance Service health plan through unions
  • Processing enrollments, terminations, and changes for employees using carrier web-based programs
  • Communicate with union Account Managers and Consultants concerning employer and/or member situations as they arise
  • Reviewing carrier eligibility reports versus active payroll in preparation for processing accurate premiums due to insurance carriers
  • Updating ERP to reflect employee benefits selections and schedule employee deductions
  • Preparing and maintaining benefit and 401(k) enrollments for eligible employees
  • Maintaining benefit files for all eligible employees of Building Maintenance Service

Vornado Realty Trust is not offering relocation for this position located in our Paramus NJ office.

The starting base salary for this Paramus, NJ based position is expected to be between $50,000 and $60,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant), and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
