BBSI (Nasdaq) is experiencing a steady rate of growth and is looking for key employees to complement our existing teams. The Employee Benefits Consultant role provides guidance and support to our business-owner clients and our internal team of experts and represents our master benefits program, BBSI Benefits. This person must demonstrate strong business acumen and possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a genuine desire to proactively and consistently deliver results for our clients and internal teams.

The BBSI Employee Benefits Consultant works with their branch, clients, and their broker (when applicable) to create a tailored benefits package that will meet the needs of our clients and their employees. The BBSI Employee Benefits Consultant works with a number of multi-million-dollar business units that consult on a broad range of organizational issues.

The ideal candidate will be able to balance the account management and service element of the role with the responsibility to bring on new BBSI Benefits Clients and their employees (worksite employees).

The objective of the Employee Benefit Consultant is to partner with branches, internal underwriting, and the corporate operations team to:

  1. Grow the master benefits program (Health, Dental, Vision, Ancillary, etc.)
  2. Recommend client companies’ benefits offerings based on client objectives, providing strategic guidance and decision-making support.
  3. Educate client employees (worksite employees) on the value of their benefits and simplify industry concepts during open enrollment meetings, maximizing employee engagement and plan participation.
  4. Drive new business development by identifying opportunities and assessing client/RP fit.
  5. Serve as a subject matter expert in employee benefits, providing strategic guidance, training, and support to:
  6. train and mentor peers, contributing to their professional growth.
  7. assist clients and their employees throughout the client lifecycle, including onboarding, implementation, and compliance.
  8. Proactively reach out to clients throughout the year to resolve escalated matters promptly and thoroughly.

This position is a full-time, exempt role reporting to the Benefits Consultant Manager, collaborating with various teams within the organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of direct employee benefits experience, ideally at a benefits brokerage or general agency; experience in account management or benefits administration is a plus. Prior PEO experience is also advantageous.
  • Deep understanding of employee benefits principles, laws, regulations, market trends, and underwriting concepts. Ability to develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of contracts, carriers, competitors, and compliance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of tailoring complex concepts for diverse audiences in verbal and written formats.
  • Strong facilitation skills for meetings, presentations, and training sessions at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with internal teams, referral sources, and clients, establishing trust and confidence.
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of accounts, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with CRM software.
  • Availability to travel up to 25%, including overnight stays.
  • Current Life and Health Insurance Producer’s License.

Salary and Compensation:

Starting range: $90,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and location. Incentive pay may also be available.
