The position emphasizes data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration with payroll and vendors. A minimum of two years in HR support is preferred, with a bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years progressively responsible experience supporting a human resources team.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or related field; familiarity with HR laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries.
  • Administer benefit programs including health, welfare, retirement and voluntary benefits through the HRIS (Workday).
  • Process benefit enrollments, life events, terminations, and related transactions with data integrity and compliance.
  • Reconcile benefit eligibility, payroll deductions, carrier files, and vendor invoices; investigate discrepancies.
  • Partner with benefit vendors, payroll, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate plan administration and seamless employee experience.
  • Support benefits compliance activities, audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with life insurance claims and other benefits-related case management.
  • Administer wellness programs, vendor coordination, and participation reporting.
  • Plan and coordinate employee appreciation events and wellness activities.
  • Generate and analyze reports related to benefits and engagement; provide improvement recommendations.
  • Participate in HR/Benefits projects and cross-functional teams to enhance programs and experiences.
  • Support Lean principles and organizational integrity through confidential and professional conduct.

Job description

The Benefits Analyst at St. Charles Health System supports the administration of various employee benefit programs, such as health/dental/vision, retirement, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, life and disability coverage, time off plans, and additional voluntary benefits. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

Essential Functions And Duties
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and customer-focused support.
  • Administers employee benefit programs including health & welfare plans, retirement and voluntary benefits through the HRIS (Workday).
  • Processes benefit enrollments, life events, terminations, and related transactions while ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Reconciles benefit eligibility, payroll deductions, carrier files, and vendor invoices; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partners with benefit vendors, payroll, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate plan administration and seamless employee experience.
  • Supports benefits compliance activities, audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements including applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Assists with life insurance claims and other employee benefits-related case management.
  • Administers employee wellness programs, including vendor coordination, program promotion, incentive tracking, employee engagement initiatives, and participation reporting.
  • Plans and coordinates employee appreciation events, wellness activities, recognition programs, milestone celebrations, and other engagement initiatives.
  • Generates and analyzes reports related to benefits, wellness, and employee engagement programs, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Participates in HR and Benefits projects, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional teams to enhance programs and employee experience.
  • Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.
  • Supports the Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.
  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.
  • Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the organization's corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.
  • Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate.
  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
Education
  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or other related field. Additional training or education in human resources. Familiarity of basic HR laws, policies, and regulations as related to employment and benefits.

Experience
  • Required: Minimum two (2) years progressively responsible experience supporting a human resources team.
  • Preferred: Prior benefits administration experience.
