RI Department of Labor and Training seeks a Benefit Claims Specialist to perform research, fact-finding, and interviews on complex unemployment insurance and temporary disability claims. You will help resolve adjudication issues and, when needed, represent the department at Board of Review hearings.

You will train staff, analyze data, detect overpayments, and maintain effective relationships with employers, insurers, and other stakeholders, contributing to fair and timely determinations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree as described; and
  • Experience: Employment involving interviews, fact-finding, data evaluation.

Responsabilités

  • Perform research, fact-finding, analysis, and/or interviews on complex unemployment insurance or temporary disability claims.
  • Provide input and assistance to resolve adjudication issues and cases.
  • Represent the department at Board of Review appeal hearings as required.
  • Prepare written factual reports and recommendations.
  • Detect and compute overpayments and refer cases to the Central Overpayment Unit.
  • Train and mentor staff on disputed-claims matters.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers, insurers and other representatives.
