Job summary

Precise Systems is seeking an Associate Microbiologist to support laboratory activities validating and optimizing bacterial strains for production of target molecules. Under supervision, you will perform routine microbiology and bench-scale fermentation experiments, collect data, and help assess growth conditions, output, and costs.

This in-person role requires a Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a closely related field, 0–2 years of experience, and the ability to follow established

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or closely related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience with microbiology, fermentation, and routine lab safety.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Culture, maintain, label, store, and preserve bacterial strains using established procedures.
• Prepare culture media, buffers, reagents, standards, and lab consumables.
• Perform aseptic techniques including inoculation, plating, dilution, colony isolation, and culture monitoring.
• Assist with strain-validation experiments under supervision.
• Support bench-scale fermentation reactors up to 3 liters and record conditions.
• Collect samples and perform assays to measure growth, substrate use, and product output.
• Document data in notebooks, spreadsheets, and approved systems.
• Assist senior staff with data review, graphs, and trend identification.
• Assist in cost estimation by comparing media formulations and process conditions.
• Maintain inventory and ensure compliance with SOPs and biosafety practices.
