Sea Research Foundation, Inc. in Mystic, CT is seeking an Assistant Trainer, Belugas to support the beluga husbandry program and daily operations.

The role focuses on care, training, enrichment, habitat maintenance, record keeping, and engaging public presentations with cetacean emphasis. The ideal candidate has hands-on marine mammal care experience, Cetacean training interest, and a collaborative, safety‑minded approach to representing Mystic Aquarium.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline; Cetacean experience required; SCUBA certification is required.
• Strong public presentation and communication skills are essential; ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine husbandry procedures for belugas and other marine mammals.
• Care for and maintain habitats and animal enclosures.
• Conduct daily training and enrichment sessions with positive reinforcement.
• Record keeping and data entry for training and care activities.
• Deliver public demonstrations and classroom talks using approved information.
• Mentor interns and volunteers; support Senior Trainers and other departments.
