Job description

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the Front of House service team to provide a courteous welcome and positive first impression.
  • Maintain ownership of the entry and lobby areas; assist guests into and out of the hotel, including transport of luggage and vehicles.
  • Orient guests to their guestroom or hotel, assist with transportation needs, and provide attentive, courteous service during check‑in, throughout their stay and at checkout.
  • Anticipate and understand guests’ service needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to concerns and requests.
  • Greet, welcome, and acknowledge all guests by name, using professional language at all times.
  • Attend pre‑shift meetings to learn shift details, attend required meetings, and follow cash‑handling procedures.
  • Adhere to the no‑solicitation‑of‑gratuities policy, input real‑time work orders via HotSOS, and convey guest opportunities and concerns clearly.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties requested by the leadership team.
  • Be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems, exercise good judgment, and follow up promptly with a leader.
  • Establish and maintain open, positive, collaborative, and professional relationships with guests, team members, and leadership.
  • Foster a cooperative working environment, maximize efficiency, and deliver the ultimate guest experience.
  • Follow all company, safety, and security policies and procedures, report maintenance problems and hazards, complete safety training and certifications.
  • Maintain compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and embody the 1 Hotels Vision, Mission, and Compass.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous related guest service experience and general knowledge of basic customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and work with technology, including computers, iPods, and iPads.
  • Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, theatres, attractions, and public transportation systems in New York City and Brooklyn.
  • Vision ability to read written communication and view monochrome computer screens, with good close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus vision.
  • Physical ability to stand >8 hours, walk, kneel, crouch, and regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 25 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and communicate effectively.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, adept at coping with change, handling risk and uncertainty, and remaining composed under pressure.
  • Diplomatic and tactful in dealing with a range of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
  • Ability to defuse even high‑tension situations comfortably and build rapport with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrates genuine empathy for guests, people, and colleagues.
  • Professional and appropriate business appearance and demeanor aligned with the 1 Hotels brand and culture.
  • Flexible to meet the demands of a 24‑hour operation, including holidays and weekends.
