Job summary

SCO in New York seeks a qualified behavioral health specialist to assess behavior, design and monitor individualized plans, and provide interventions for clients. You will use trauma-informed approaches, support coping and communication skills, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

The role emphasizes crisis intervention, documentation, and ongoing staff education.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's in psychology or related field from an accredited institution.
• Plans to enroll in or currently pursuing a Master's degree.
• Minimum of one year experience working with people receiving services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members.
• Capacity to maintain high levels of quality of work and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral assessments to identify strengths, needs, triggers, and support strategies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior support plans, and crisis plans.
• Provide one-on-one and group-based behavioral interventions.
• Support clients in developing coping skills, communication, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution strategies.
• Use trauma-informed, person-centered, and affirming approaches in all interactions.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when needed.
• Collaborate with mental health providers, case managers, medical staff, families, and community supports.
• Advocate for youth affirming care and reduce barriers to accessing services.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of services, progress, and incidents.
• Monitor progress toward behavioral goals and adjust interventions as appropriate.
• Provide ongoing education/training/support of staff and caregivers on effective behavior support strategies.
• Participate in program planning meetings and case reviews to discuss goals and strategies.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership.

Job description

• QUALIFICATIONS :
• Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in psychology or related fields from an accredited college or university with plans to enroll in or are currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of one year experience working with people receiving services or in care.
• Must possess well developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members.
• Capacity to maintain high levels of quality of work and productivity
• Ideal candidate will be flexible with working hours and demonstrate reliability in relation to attendance and punctuality.
