Monarch Healthcare in Monroe, NC is seeking a Behavioral Specialist to support individuals in achieving personal goals and participating in the community. You will help with planning, advocacy, safety, and daily living activities while maintaining thorough documentation and ongoing communication with the team.

The role requires a High School Diploma and a valid driver’s license, with driving and transport responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Experience with individuals with mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess individuals in identifying hopes, dreams, and goals and provide supports to help achieve them.
  • Help individuals participate in their community according to their interests.
  • Protect and promote the rights of individuals and develop advocacy skills.
  • Provide support to meet emotional, physical, and social needs.
  • Foster person-centered relationships that promote self-determination.
  • Assist with planning processes and implement plans per service definitions.
  • Complete required documentation including goals, outcomes, and incident reports.
  • Maintain progress notes and communication logs for appointments and goals.
  • Assist with daily home activities such as housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, and transportation.
  • Travel as required and arrange transportation for individuals.

## Behavioral SpecialistApply: Monroe, NC: Full time: Posted Today: R12996**Scheduled Weekly Hours:**40**Schedule**:Monday 8a-4p, Thursday-Sunday 4p-12a**Pay Range Minimum:**$15.00**Education We're Looking for:**High School Diploma (Required)**Certifications We're Looking For:**Drivers License (Valid) - USA**Experience We're Looking For:**Experience working with children or adults (dependent upon population served) with a mental health diagnosis, an intellectual/developmental disability, or substance use disorder | Not Required**Job Description Summary:**The Behavioral Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting people in achieving their personal dreams and goals.**What You'll Do:**• Assess each person receiving services for their hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports that facilitate achievement. • Assist people receiving services in participating fully in their community consistent with the person’s interests. • Ensure that the rights of each person receiving services are protected and promoted at all times. Assist people in developing advocacy skills, participating in advocacy efforts, and utilizing personal advocates. • Provide support as needed to meet the emotional, physical, and social needs of each person supported. • Facilitate person-centered, effective, positive relationships with people receiving services using positive approaches that promote self-determination in all areas of life. • Provide input and recommendations into assessment and planning processes, and development of the individual’s plan. • Implement person’s plan fully, within the requirements of the service definition, and document as required by the service definition and agency policy. • Complete all required documentation, including but not limited to, goal completion, actions toward outcomes, incident reports, timesheets, etc. • Complete daily progress notes and communication log to assure appointments, goals, and interests are met. • Assist people receiving services with the day-to-day operation of their home such as housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, shopping, lawn care, vehicle cleanliness, and maintenance. • Drive and travel as required. Arrange for or provide transportation to people receiving services as required. • Assist people receiving services with knowledge of emergency procedures and personal safety. • Utilize effective judgment when dealing with safety issues, including but not limited to fire safety by conducting drills, inspecting equipment, and practicing safety procedures in the community. • Facilitate access to community resources, including locating recreational activities, housing, food, clothing, school programs, vocational opportunities or services providers to teach life skills, and relevant mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services. • Assist person supported to develop natural resources and make contact with social support networks. • Assist new staff and/or current staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.• Sleepover at a residential setting may be required. • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required.
