This position requires collaboration with crisis intervention staff, monitoring of the behavior management system, and an active participant in crisis intervention and de-escalation of students. Communication is critical in the position as this person gives feedback to direct employees, other Kiefer staff, students/parents, and collateral resources. The person must be flexible, calm, and have the ability to “think on their feet” and prioritize. Each day is different with some days being spent primarily trouble shooting despite what was planned. This position is key in working with the Kiefer leadership team and providing input to the behavior management system. This is an active position with little time at a desk during the school day.
The Behavior Management Specialist is responsible for effective behavior management policies within Kiefer School and the Academy for Autism, collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and consistent implementation of motivation systems. The Behavior Management Specialist is also responsible for the training and supervision of staff in the use of behavior management, gathering and disseminating data, and providing feedback to staff.
