Job summary

El Paso Behavioral Health System is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) / Driver to join its treatment team in El Paso, TX. This role provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling for patients across age ranges, while ensuring safety and smooth transport between the facility and units.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline.
• Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Licensure: Maintains a valid, class-specific driver’s license applicable to the transportation of patients.
• Additional Requirements: Must be 21 years of age or older and have a good driving record; CPR Certification within employment; Handle With Care Training within 90 days; may require overtime, holidays and weekends; flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• The Mental Health Technician (MHT) / Driver functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from five years of age through geriatrics depending on unit.
• Provides transportation of patients to and from the facility with continuous observation and safety.
• Maintains safety at all times and adheres to procedures during transport and patient care.
